Jennifer Chaiken, MFT is a practicing marriage and family therapist and a member of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT)
who is passionate about cultivating a healing relationship with her clients by working to understand and empathize with each of her client’s individual challenges. By taking a compassionate and genuine therapeutic approach, Jennifer creates a safe environment in which each client feels important, understood and cared for.
Prior to working at The West Chester Therapy Group, Jennifer received her Master’s Degree in Couple and Family Therapy with a concentration in Sex Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, couples counseling, and systemic issues.
Jennifer is committed to helping her clients become the best version of themselves by tailoring her therapeutic approach to best fit the unique needs of each client, couple or family. Jennifer has been successful in helping clients work through many different challenges but specializes in treatment of anxiety and depression in individuals, couples and families. Jennifer has also found success in working with couples facing relationship challenges, communication difficulties and helping couples to regain intimacy within their relationship. She applies a multitude of systemic approaches with an emphasis on Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy to help couples to better understand one another and communicate more effectively.
Jennifer graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Human Development. At the University of Maryland, Jennifer worked in the Maryland Child and Family Development Lab, helping to develop her knowledge of parent-child interactional patterns. She then went on to complete her Masters of Science in Couple and Family Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University through the Council for Relationships (CFR). She conducted individual, family, couple, as well as group psychotherapy. At Council for Relationships Jennifer was successful in helping clients to work through a variety of challenges including but not limited to anxiety, depression, life transitions, infidelity, intimacy building, self-esteem development, sexual dysfunction, grief and loss, sexual trauma, stress management, and parenting. Jennifer also worked at Gesu school, where she worked exclusively with at-risk youth, helping them to develop greater social and academic skills, develop a greater sense of self and process through difficult familial and interpersonal challenges.
